Funeral services were conducted Friday morning at St. Joseph Church in Anthon for Mrs. John (Mary) Franzen, 74, a lifelong resident of Woodbury County. Father Conlon officiated.

Mrs. Franzen was born and raised in Sioux City and passed away at St. Joseph's Hospital in Sioux City unexpectedly after a brief illness on Tuesday, July 26, 1955.

After teaching in the rural schools of the county for several years she married John Franzen of Kingsley on June 25, 1907. Her husband passed away seven years ago and a son died in infancy.

Survivors are three daughters, Mrs. Alice Camarigg of Correctionville, Mrs. Inez Groth of Moville, and Mrs. Madge Waggoner of Sioux City, twelve grandchildren, four great grandchildren, two half -brothers and a half sister.

Burial was in Mt. St. Joseph's Cemetery at Anthon in charge of Hudgel Funeral Home.
