Mrs. Mary Ann Flamming
1882-1959

Funeral services were conducted at 9 A. M. Friday, June 26, in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church at Anthon for Mrs. Mary Ann Flemming, who died at her
home Tuesday, June 23, after a six weeks illness.

Rev. Clement Flannery officiated and burial was in Mount St. Joseph’s Cemetery under the direction of the Hudgel funeral home of Anthon. Pallbearers were Ned Castle, Art Beers, Leland Frost, Lewis Foley, Maurice Coyne and Jack McNamara.

Mary Ann Carr, eldest child of Michael and Jane Carr, was born at Cascade, Ia., February 2, 1882, At the age of fifteen she came with her parents to Anthon and she grew to womanhood in the community. She received her education in St. Joseph’s school there and was married May 16, 1905, in St. Joseph’s Church to Paul Flemming. They had farmed near Correctionville ever since.

Nine children were born to this union. Pauline died at the age of one and one-half years in 1918 and Lucille died at the age of seventeen in 1925. Seven children with her husband survive. The children are Leo, of Rock Valley, Irene, Mrs. Stoltz Hart, Clarence, Gerald, of Correctionville, Kathleen, Mrs. Lowell Burnham of Pierson, Wilfred and Vivian. Mrs. John Sevening of Correctionville. Besides these children are 26 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren: two sisters. Mrs. James McNiff of Ortonville, Minn., and Mrs. Lettie Farmer of Sioux City; five brothers, John Carr of Sioux City, Frank and Joe Carr of Anthon, Albert Carr of Concord, Calif., and Cecil Carr of San Jose, Calif.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Nellie, in infancy, Marjorie, Mrs. Wm. Neustrom in 1939, Leone, Mrs. Frank Waters in 1956, and two brothers, Leo Carr in infancy and Will Carr in
1939.

Those from a distance who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. James McNiff, Ortonville, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. Joe Folk, Milbank, S., Mr. and Mrs. John Folk, Corona, S. D., Mr. and Mrs. Frank Flemming, Watertown, S.D., Miss Clara Flemming, Watertown, S. D., Mrs. Agnes Fredricks and son, Wm., Miss Clara Flemming, John Carr, Mrs. Lettie Farmer, Violet Farmer, Mrs. Howard Hanna, Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Coyne, Cyril Carr, Mrs. John Burns all of Sioux City, Mr. and Mrs. Art Foss of Minneapolis, Minn., Frank Waters, Mike Waters and Robt Waters of Cherokee, Wm Neustrom of Marcus and Rev G. J. Skahill of Akron, Iowa.
