9 December 1971

Funeral services for Clara Flemming of Sioux City were held at 11 o'clock Saturday morning, December 4, 1971, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sioux City with Rev. Frank J. Brady officiating. Burial was in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery at Anthon under direction of Larkin Funeral Home. Rev. Gerald J. Skahill officiated at the graveside services.

Clara M. Flemming, daughter of John and Rosalie Zaske Flemming, was born July 14, 1887, on a farm near Correctionville and passed away December 2, 1971, at a Sioux City hospital after a long illness.

She received her education in the Correctionville schools, graduating from high school in 1903 at the age of fifteen, and taught schools in the rural area. She was a talented musician, seamstress and artist. The early part of her life was service to others, having cared for her aged parents and an invalid sister. In spite of her age she still raised a garden and made braided rugs. Miss Flemming moved to Sioux City in 1938 where she spent the rest of her life.

She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the Ladies' Altar Society.

Preceding her in death were her parents, three brothers and three sisters.

Survivors include seventeen nieces and nephews.
