Prominent Commission Firm Man Held Many Offices Here

Otis P. Garrison, 77, 2933 Jones Street, founder and president of the Wagner-Garrison-Abbott Livestock Commission Co. of Sioux City and Sioux Falls, S.D., died Sunday at a hospital here after an illness of several weeks.

Mr. Garrison spent most of his life in the livestock business. In 1900 he began his career with Rice Bros, in Chicago and two, years later was transferred to Sioux City to open the Rice Bros, office. From 1908 to 1914 he was associated with the Ward Commission Co. He then formed the Wagner-Garrison-Abbott Co.

He also was president of the Allied Laboratories, a director of the Security National bank, and a past president of the Sioux City Livestock Exchange, of which he was a member at the time of his death.

Active In Club Work

Mr. Garrison also was a member of the National Livestock Exchange, Sioux City Country club, Landmark lodge 103, A. F. & A. M., Sioux City Consistory 5, Abu Bekr Shrine and Columbia commandery, Knights Templars. He was a charter member of the Shrine white horse patrol and a member of the First Presbyterian church. He had served as trustee of that church and had been elected as president of the board of trustees.

Mr. Garrison was born January 18, 1872 at Le Mars, Ia. He had been a Sioux Cityan for 48 years. He married Miss Clara May Wright October 24, 1900, at Cherokee, Ia. She died April 6, 1947.

Survivors are a nephew, Edgar Stanton of Crowly, La., and four nieces, Mrs. Martha Issakoff Behrens of Sioux City, Miss Gertrude Stanton of Chicago, Ill., Mrs. Frances Morris of Cherokee and Mrs. Betty French of Marcus, la.

Funeral Rites Tuesday

Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p. m. Tuesday at the First Presbyterian church. Rev. John Paul Vincent will officiate. Burial will be in Logan Park cemetery under the direction of the Westcott-Doughty-Chandler funeral home.

Pallbearers will be L. G. McLaughlin, Fred P. Hall, Dr. W.R. Laird, Holman E. Waitt, William Macfarlane and C. Shively.

Honorary pallbearers will be George F. Silknitter, C.R. Gossett, C. M. StillwelL Dr. Prince Sawyer, Dr. T. W. Munce, Dr. J. E. DeWalt, Dr. C. R. Watkin, Hugh Twohig, Harry H. Epperson, E. A. CahilL Thomas J. Kirby, Pete Vest, Carl Angsp and George S. Tayler.
