Funeral services for George Henry Finzen, 72, who died Thursday at his home, were held at 9:30 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Anthon. Rev. A.M. Conlon officiated and burial was in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Graveside military rites were conducted by McNiff Post #389, American Legion.

Mr. Finzen was born July 17, 1892, at Elberon, Iowa, the son of Hans and Elizabeth (Jensen) Finzen. As a small boy he moved with his parents to Tama where he lived until he married Catherine Bosch on August 13, 1916, at Lemmon, South Dakota. They were there until 1921 when they moved to Correctionville where they lived until going to Anthon in 1928. He was a meatcutter and butcher and had worked for the Anthon Market.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, a past member of the Anthon Fire Department, and the American Legion.

He was a veteran of World War I.

Survivors include the widow; six daughters, Mrs. Robert (Pat) Turner of Greensburg, Pennsylvania; Mrs. Bing (Ruth) Hall of Moville; Mrs. William (Frances) McNamara of Walnut Creek, California; Mrs. Lyle (JoAnn) Groth of Climbing Hill; Mrs. Howard (Mary Jane) Santeler of Roselle, Illinois; and Mrs. Glen (Sue) Petersen of Huntsville, Texas; four sons, George Jr. of Sioux City, Donald, William and James all of Cedar Rapids; one sister, Mrs. Dora Potter of Anaheim, California; and 23 grandchildren.

He was preceded by his parents, six brothers and one sister.
