Funeral services were held at 9 o'clock Friday morning at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Anthon, for John Farmer, 71, who died Tuesday afternoon, October 16, 1956, shortly after being admitted to St. Joseph Hospital, Sioux City. Rev. Father Kelm of Oto conducted the funeral, and burial was made in Mount St. Joseph Cemetery under direction of Hudgel Funeral Home.

Pallbearers included Tom Coyne, Dan Curtin, Hugh Coyne, Neil Coyne, Raphael Curtin and John Flynn.

Mr. Farmer, a retired painter, was born August 2, 1885, at Winchester, Canada. He came to Iowa in 1905 and had been a resident of Anthon for forty-five years. He was married to Lettie Carr at Anthon, June 22, 1919.

Survivors include his widow, Lettie, three daughters, Dorothy of San Francisco, California, Mrs. Arlene Stenberg of Fertile, Minnesota, and Violet of Sioux City; a son Cleland of San Francisco, two grandchildren, a brother Thomas Farmer of Omaha, and two sisters, Rose Gothier of San Francisco and Mrs. Sam Schoberg of Spencer, Nebraska.

A brother, Hugh Farmer, preceded him August 22, 1956.
