Funeral services for Raphael V. Curtin, 70, a lifetime resident of the Anthon community, were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 19, 1966, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Anthon with Rev. A.M. Conlon officiating. Burial was made in the church cemetery. Military rites were conducted by McNiff Post 389, American Legion of Anthon.

Raphael Vincent Curtin was born December 6, 1895, near Anthon and was graduated from Trinity College in Sioux City. He was a veteran of World War I and was a member of McNiff Post 389. He farmed in the Anthon community before moving to town in 1951.

On February 18, 1950, he married Aurelia Adler in Anthon. Mr. Curtin died Wednesday, November 16, 1966, at a Sioux City hospital after a long illness.

Survivors include the widow, one daughter, Theresa, and two sons, Joseph and Matthew, all of Anthon; two sisters, Sister Mary Isabel of Elma, and Mrs. John Brady of Marcus; and three brothers, Jeffrey, Daniel and Matthew, all of Anthon.

He was preceded by his parents, Jeffrey and Catherine (Coyne) Curtin, and one brother.
