Clarence R. "Shorty" Dandurand

Clarence R. "Shorty" Dandurand, 77, 2934 Jennings St., died Thursday, Dec. 29, 1988, in a Sioux City hospital following a sudden illness.

Services will be at 10:30 a. m. Monday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with the Rev. Douglas Dandurand of St. Benedict's Catholic Church of Algona and Monsignor Richard Sweeney concelebrating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Anthon. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Sunday at Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel. The Catholic Daughters rosary will be recited at 4 p.m. and the parish rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Dandurand was born June 23, 1911, in Clyde, Kan. At a young age he and his family moved to Anthon and then to Sioux City. He attended Anthon Catholic School. He married Gladys F. Gordon April 22, 1939, in Sioux City. He served in the Pacific Campaign during World War II. He last worked for Rhymer Electric for approximately 10 years and then for Casler Electric until his retirement in 1977. Mrs. Dandurand died Sept. 1, 1983. He married Cora M. Walsh July 14, 1984, in Sioux City.

He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, the Senior Center, and the American Legion McNiff Post 389 in Anthon.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Kenneth Dandurand of Widefield, Colo., Richard Dandurand of Salix, Iowa, and Donald Dandurand of Sioux City; four brothers, Leon Dandurand, Ralph Dandurand and Ernie Dandurand, all of Sioux City and Orville Dandurand of Salix; five sisters, Aurelia Groth, Allma Hellinger, and Doreen Kortum, all of Sioux City, Pauline Groberski of Chicago, 111., and Ernestine Prichard of Riverside, Calif., and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Robert, two brothers and four sisters.
