"Funeral services were held at 9 a.m. Friday in St. Joseph's Catholic Church at Sioux City for Fred A. Cole, who passed away Tuesday at St. Joseph's hospital where he had undergone surgery about two weeks before. Rev. Edward C. Lilly officiated. Interment was in St. Joseph's Cemetery at Anthon. The rosary was recited Thursday evening at the Larkin Funeral Home where the body remained until the time of the funeral. Oto friends who served as pallbearers were Jess Benton, Tom McDonald and Clem McKenna and John Pierce, a former Oto resident.

Mr. Cole was born at Blencoe, Iowa, February 15, 1888. He was united in marriage to Grace Coyle of Anthon, January 8, 1913. They resided on farms in the Anthon and Oto communities until moving to Oto in 1935. They moved to Sioux City in 1941. He was a member of Epiphany Council 734 Knights of Columbus and Holy Name Society of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Sioux City.

Survivors include the widow; three sons, Marvin of Oto, Robert of Fresno, California, and Richard of Sioux City; one daughter, Mrs. Melvin Gissable of Massena, Iowa; two brothers, George of Coleridge, Nebraska, and Earl E. of Sioux City, and four grandchildren."
