Maurice S. Callaghan, 75, of Sioux City, died Saturday, May 7, 1988, at his residence after a long illness.

Services were held at noon Wednesday, May 11, in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with Monsignor Richard V. Sweeney officiating. Burial followed in Mt. St. Joseph Cemetery, Anthon, under direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Mr. Callaghan was born March 11, 1913, in Oto, Iowa. He married Jean K. Sokolowski December 28, 1942, in Danbury, Iowa. He farmed in the Anthon-Oto area for many years before moving to Sioux City in 1964. Mrs. Callaghan died August 19,1981, in Sioux City. He worked at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church for several years until his retirement in 1982.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and former longtime member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. He was a member of Eagles Aerie 77 in Sioux City.

Survivors include four sons, Dennis of Salisbury, Maryland, Patrick of Sioux City, Thomas of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Mark of Iowa City, Iowa; a brother, Francis, of Council Bluffs, Iowa; a sister, Marguerite Bernard of Anthon and seven grandchildren.
