Funeral services were held Thursday morning in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Oto for Edward C. Barrett, 55, of Anthon who died unexpectedly Tuesday morning, October 8, at his farm home after suffering an apparent heart attack. Rev. Thomas Munn officiated and burial was in Mt. St. Joseph's Cemetery, Anthon, under direction of Walter Funeral Home.

Mr. Barrett was born April 17, 1913, at Hinton. He moved to Sioux City in 1930 and to the Anthon community in 1963. He married Mrs. Marie Yockey on June 7, 1961, in St. Paul, Minnesota. He as a maintenance engineer at St. Luke's Medical Center, an engineer for the Sioux City school board and a fireman-engineer at the Sioux City airbase. He previously worked at the Wincharger Co. for ten years.

Survivors include the widow, one son, Eugene Barrett, and two daughters, Mrs. Beverly Reed and Mrs. Betty Brewer, all of Sioux City; a stepson, Phillip Yockey of Anthon; four stepdaughters, Mrs. Dick Dunnington of Pierson, Mrs. Marvin Wycoff of Moville, Mrs. Jim Renneker of New Brighton, Minnesota, and Mrs. Jerry Blessing of Sterling, Colorado; three brothers, Leo of Chicago, Maurice of Des Moines and Harold of Omaha; four sisters, Mrs. Leone Reichert of Phoenix, Mrs. Iona Becker and Mrs. Loren Anderson, both of Fort Morgan, Colorado, and Mrs. Maxine Hebron of Des Moines, and thirteen grandchildren.
