Joshua E. Piatt, 77, 1113 W. 14th street, died at a hospital here Tuesday evening after an illness of three weeks.

He was born September 4, 1866, at Elgin, Ill., and had been a resident of Sioux City most of his life. He was formerly employed by the street department and had retired in 1935. He married Jennie L. Cord at Onawa 56 years ago.

Survivors include the widow; three sons, Wallace E., Sioux City, Howard F. Pelican, Rapids, Minn., and Fay L., Salt Lake City; two daughters, Mrs. Kate Rains, Whiting, and Mrs. Nellie Strong, Sioux City; three brothers, Walter and Earl, both of Sioux City, and Chance of Texas; three sisters, Mrs. Dora Brewer, Ute, la., Mrs. Kate Alread, Marysville, Cal., and Mrs. Thomas Harlan, Portland, Ore. 17 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday in the Assembly of God church, W. 14th and Myrtle Streets. Rev. David Hastie will officiate and interment will be in Graceland Park cemetery.

The Christy funeral home of Morningside has charge of arrangements.
