11 April 1929

Gertrude Sanford, daughter of Cornelius D. and Ada Sadelia (Kuntz) Sanford, was born April 2, 1899, at Howard, Miner Co., South Dakota, and departed this life April 5, 1929, at Sheldon, Iowa, at the age of 30 years and 3 days.

At the age of 16 years she, with her parents, united with the Presbyterian Church at Sanborn, Iowa, and her life bore evidence that the vows were faithfully kept until her death. She grew to womanhood in O'Brien Co., Iowa, where she met and was married to William Urban, of Sheldon, Iowa, in July 1923. Mrs. Urban was one of six children, of whom three brothers, Johnnie, Fred and an infant brother, have preceded her in death. Her two sisters, Mrs. John Leeders of Burlington, Wisconsin, and Mrs. Charles Sage of Sheldon, Iowa, with her husband, parents and a host of friends and relatives are left to mourn for one whose life was spent at noon. She was a kind and lovable daughter and a devoted wife, and will be missed by all who knew her.

Funeral services were held from the Evangelical Church here Tuesday afternoon, with Rev. J.S. Deedrick as the minister. Burial was in the Good Hope Cemetery with Wilson Service in charge. T
