Robert "Muriel" Thompson was born November 24, 1900, in Correctionville, Iowa, the son of John Snyder "Dick" Thompson and Josephine Hamren.
He was raised in the Correctionville community with his siblings, Ethel, Edith, Mona and Earl; a sister, Esther, having died in infancy. His mother died when he was only two.
His chosen career in life was to be a Sioux City fireman and had reach a "probationary" period of his career, which ended with his untimely death on May 12, 1924.
Funeral services were held at his boyhood home at Correctionville with Sioux City firemen serving as pallbearers. Burial was made in Good Hope Cemetery, rural Correctionville, Iowa, under direction of Samuels Brothers Funeral Service of Sioux City.
