Funeral services for Herman J. Sieling were held October 23, 1958, at the Church of Christ in Pierson with Rev. Leon Triggers officiating. Burial was in Good Hope Cemetery under direction of Wilson-Hull Funeral Home.

Mr. Sieling died in St. Joseph's Hospital in Sioux City on October 20, 1958, after a long illness. He was born January 27, 1882, at Deterick, Illinois, the son of Henry and Minnie Sieling. He lived at Avon, South Dakota, before coming to Correctionville in 1919, where he operated the Manhattan Cafe until 1926. He moved to a farm at Huron, South Dakota, in 1927 and resided there until 1933 when the family returned to the Correctionville vicinity, living on a farm west of town. In 1938 the family moved to Pierson where he resided until his death.

He leaves his two daughters and three sons: Mrs. Betty Miller of Pierson, Alice May and Donald of Pierson, Ronald of Audubon, and Robert of Vermillion, South Dakota, one sister, Mrs. Verna Regnary of Chicago, one brother, Chris Sieling of Avon, South Dakota, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

One son, Roger, preceded him in death.
