Rachel Violet Seehusen was born on January 23, 1923, near Pierson, Iowa, the daughter of Clyde J. and Emma Leonard Pelton. She died on Friday, June 12, 1992 at her home in Schleswig. Iowa at the age of 69 years.

Rachel was born on a farm where she lived with her parents in the Pierson and Battle Creek areas, receiving her education in the local community schools.

After completing her education, Rachel was united in marriage to Earl Seehusen in Sioux City, Iowa on July 26, 1939 and were blessed with the birth of two children. The couple settled on a farm near Battle Creek where they farmed for three years before moving to Seattle, Washington where they remained for nine years. The couple subsequently returned to Battle Creek where they farmed until their retirement In 1980 and moved to Schleswig.

Rachel enjoyed cooking and occupying her free time in her flower garden in addition to socializing with family and friends. She was a loving wife and mother who cared for her family with kindness and devotion. She was an active member of the United Church of Christ in Schleswig, the Ladies Guild of the church, the V.F.W. Auxillary and the Farmerettes.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers. Clyde and Leonard Pelton.

Survivors include her husband, Earl of Schleswig; one daughter, Harriet Seehusen of Des Moines, Iowa; and one son, Roger Seehusen of Fountain Valley, California, also one grandson, Brent Alan also of Fountain Valley; two sisters, Mary Reed of
Redding, California; and Doris Walker of Seattle. Washington.

Funeral services were held on Monday, June 15,1992 at 2:00 p.m. at the United Church of Christ in Schleswig. Rev. James Schatz officiated the service and the grave side rites held in the
Good Hope Cemetery in Correctionville, Iowa. Evelyn Johnson provided the organ accompaniment for solo selections of "The Lords Prayer" and "God Will Take Care of You" sung by Henry Henningsen. The congregation sang "What A Friend We Have In Jesus".

Pallbearers were Bob Bumann, Bert Dimig, Ed Broders, Pay Krayenhagen, Donald Teut and Nick Wilken.

All in attendance at the service were invited to join the family in fellowship and lunch served by the Ladles Guild. The Huebner Funeral Home in Schleswig was in charge of the arrangements.
