Pearl "Marguerite" Schwarz 1925 - 2009

Mrs. Pearl "Marguerite" Schwarz died quietly in her sleep Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at the age of 84.

The former Marguerite Leeders was born July 26, 1925 in Sioux City, Iowa. Her father, John Leeders, was a baker in Sioux City. Around 1927, John Leeders moved his family to Burlington, WI where he purchased the Federal Bake Shop which he owned until his death in 1932. After his death the family moved back to Woodbury County.

Marguerite attended first grade in Burlington, WI, second grade in Correctionville, IA, and third grade through High School in Sioux City, IA. In 1943, she graduated from East High School and attended Morningside College. At age 17, she took a waitress job at Schwarz Cafe in Sioux City. One day in 1944, Harold Schwarz, who had grown up on a farm in Sibley, Iowa and was a nephew to the owner Ira Schwarz, moved to Sioux City to find work and came into the cafe for a meal. Almost immediately, Marguerite and Harold began to date. They were married on December 9, 1945 in Sibley, IA. To this union was born two children, Cheryl Lynn and Russell Dean.

Harold took a position with the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad and the family moved to Zion, Illinois in 1959. By the mid 1970's, with the two children raised, Harold and Marguerite began to spend winters in Harlingen, TX where they eventually moved.

Marguerite was a faithful church member all of her life, a prayer warrior and a dedicated student of her Bible. In particular, she loved to study the Old Testament. She walked closely with God until the moment she slipped into his eternal presence.

Marguerite was preceded in death by her husband Harold.

She is survived by her daughter Cheryl Jagst of Georgetown, TX and her son Russell of San Antonio, TX, six grandchildren, Stephanie and Kimberly Jagst and David, Paul, Mark, and Aaron Schwarz and 14 great grandchildren.
