FORMER RESIDENT BURIED HERE

Clarence Coon Succumbs in Sioux City Hospital from Illness of Long Duration

Clarence E. Coon was born near Correctionville, Iowa, December 23, 1878 and departed this life January 14, 1939 in a Sioux City hospital, after an illness of three months, having arrived at the age of sixty years and twenty-two days.

When a small boy he moved with his parents to Missouri, returning to Iowa in 1900.

As a young man he spent several years in California, returning to spend the remainder of his life in Woodbury County.

He leaves to mourn his departure six sisters and three brothers: Mrs. William Queener of Kansas City, Mo; Mrs. William L. Marsh, Los Angela, C alif., Miss Verna Coon, Anthon; Mrs. Claud Anderson of Correctionville, Mrs. Earl Coleman of Sioux City, Mrs. Charles Page, Correctionville, W. C. Coon, of Correctionville, Fred and Ed Coon of Sioux City, and a host of friends and relatives.

Funeral services were held in the Wilson -Hull Funeral Home Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. G. D. Serril of Sioux City officiating. Interment was made in the Correctionville cemetery.

Pallbearers were nephews of the deceased and included, Kenneth Coon, Lowell Coon, Edwin Coleman of Sioux City, Kenneth Page of Green and Lowell and Merrill Anderson. Mrs. Louis Besco, Mrs. Elmer Sellman, Mrs. John Barker and Mrs. Paul Green sang “Abide with Me" and ‘‘My Saviour Cares.” Mrs. Bescoe and Mrs. Sellman sang "Old Rugged Cross,” with Bessie Hatfield at the piano.
