Last Rites for Long Time Resident

The life of Mrs. Margaret Summer came to a close at a Sioux City hospital Sunday afternoon. She had made her home in Correctionville for 65 years. Few persons have had a longer residence here.

Margaret Elizabeth Coon was born at Spring Green, Wis. Feb. 26, 1868. She passed away in a Sioux City hospital July 12, 1942 at the age of 74 years, 4 months and 16 days.

In 1877 she moved with her parents to Correctionville when only a child of 9 years of age. This has been her home almost continuously since that time.

In 1889 she was united in marriage to George Summer. The husband preceded her in death August 2, 1915.

Five children came to bless the home of Mr. and Mrs. Summer all of whom survive the kind and loving mother. The four sons, Edgar of Correctionville, Merle of Jamaica, Iowa, Wilbur of Primghar, Iowa, and Russell of Albany, Oregon; one daughter, Mrs. Cora Tangeman of Los Angeles, Calif.; one brother, Jasper Coon of Chico, Calif., and seven grandchildren

For some years Mrs. Summer was a member of the Evangelical church. She was a devoted mother, a good neighbor and kind friend.

Funeral services were held at the Wilson-Hull Funeral Home Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 p. m. Rev. Robert H. Forrester pastor of the Methodist church officiated. Mrs. Mame Ohitty and Mrs. R. C. Thom accompanied on the piano by Mrs. George Will sang, "In The Garden” and ‘‘The Old Rugged Cross.”

Interment was not made immediately because the daughter, who had expected to be present for the services had not arrived. Burial will be made under the direction of the Wilson-Hull Service in the Correctionville cemetery.
