3 January 2001Ruth N. Zell, 78, of Palm Desert, Calif., formerly of Sioux City, died Monday, Jan. 1, 2001, at Eisenhower Medical Center in Rancho Mirage, California.
Services will be 11:15 a.m. Friday at Congregation Beth Shalom in Sioux City.
Mrs. Zell was born Aug. 6, 1922, in Omaha, the daughter of Morris and Anne Weiner.
She married Philip Zell on Jan. 2, 1943, in Sioux City.
She was an active volunteer with Mount Sinai Temple (now known as Congregation Beth Shalom) in Sioux City and Temple Sinai in Palm Desert and other community organizations. She chaired numerous committees for Sisterhood and Hadassah and served as a board member for Hadassah in Sioux City.
Survivors include three daughters, Marilyn Rosskam of Huntington Valley, Penn., Sharon Hill of Littleton, Colo., and Pam Burger of Englewood, Colo.; a son, Jeff of Fremont, Calif.; a brother, Bernard Weiner of Sioux City; and six grandchildren.
