Mary Lue Schneiders, 86, of Sioux City passed away Monday, Aug. 15, 2022.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at St. Joseph Church in Salix, Iowa. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday with vigil service at 7 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery. Online condolences may be directed to meyerbroschapels.com.

Mary Lue was born Jan. 31, 1936, in Fargo, N.D., to Lucille and Sylvester Fahnlander. She graduated from Heelan High School in Sioux City, where she met her high school sweetheart, Jerry Schneiders. They married on June 30, 1956, at Immaculate Conception Church in Sioux City. They had 66 wonderful years together.

After high school she worked two years for Moran and Gilinsky Law Firm and IPS. She also worked for T.S. Martins Tea Room. Mary Lue and Jerry were blessed with five children. Mary Lue was fortunate to be able to stay home to raise the family, as Jerry worked to support them. Her family was the joy of her life. Mary Lue and Jerry made many great friends through their moves with his job. She will be deeply missed by all.

Through the years they traveled to various historical places. Some of these places were Italy, France, Germany, and Sweden. Their favorite trip was to Italy. Mary Lue loved the family holidays, planning and cooking the meals. She really enjoyed the yearly vacations to Okoboji and the fishing trips to Lake Ida in Minnesota.

Mary Lue is survived by her husband, Jerry Schneiders of Sioux City; children, Gina (Mike) Norgelas of Salix, Debbie (Al) Tegtmeier of Plattsmouth, Neb., Retha (Mike) Lenhart of Storm Lake, Iowa, Rhonda (Mike) Sutton of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Chris (Tammie) Schneiders of Salix; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Joann Fahnlander of Royal, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lucille and Sylvester Fahnlander; brother, Bob Fahnlander; sister, Jean Dallen; and great-grandson, Connor Norgelas.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be directed to Care Initiatives Hospice or June E. Nylen Cancer Center in Sioux City.
