June Rose Lyman, 91 of Sioux City, Iowa passed away Saturday, September 10, 2022, at a local care facility. Services will be held 2:00pm Sunday, October 2, 2022, at the Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City. Visitation will be held at 12:00 until service time at the funeral home. Private family burial will be held at Logan Park Cemetery.

June was born July 8, 1931, in Sanborn, Iowa the daughter of Oscar and Violet (Ebert) Lumby. She attended Sanborn Public School, graduating in 1949. June was very active in the pep club, glee club, drama, band and basketball. On June 10, 1949, she married Arthur D. Lyman and, in this union, they had seven children: Randy, Dennis, Vicki, Sandra, Steven, Jacki and Ricky.

June had various jobs during her life, she waitressed at Normandy Restaurant, The Biltmore Restaurant, and at the Sunshine Café. June was a baker at North Park, a supervisor at Goodwill Industries, a Lathe Operator at Sioux Tools and at Dyna Tech. She also worked for Rexall Drug Store, Irwin Weller in the fishing and tackle area and at Zenith. June was a very hard worker and did not retire until she was 84 years old.

She was an amazing cook and always created special treats for her children and grandchildren, especially during the holidays. “Gramma” June’s homemade caramel pecan rolls were unrivaled. She had a keen wit and wonderful sense of humor. June was a painter, seamstress, carpenter, sculptor and a contractor on occasion. But mostly she was a friend.

June is survived by two sons, Randy (Tracy) Lyman, Steven (Shirley) Lyman, three daughters, Jacki (Dan) Hansen, Vicki Beers, Saundra (Neal) Nesbitt, brother, Cliff (Sharon) Lumby, many grandchildren and many great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Arthur, two sons, Dennis, Ricky, four brothers, Don Harms, Forrest Lumby, Marion Lumby, Martin Lumby, and a sister, Betty Lumby.
