Dennis C. “Denny” Olsen, 56 of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa passed away Thursday, September 8, 2022, at his home. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Sioux City. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Lunch and fellowship will follow the service. Arrangements are under the direction of Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City.

Denny was born August 2, 1966, in Kendallville, Indiana the son of Leo and Janice (Olson) Olsen. After the passing of his father in 1968, Denny and his family moved to Sioux City where he graduated from East High School. He continued his education at Iowa State and eventually obtained an associate degree in Mechanical Engineering from Western Iowa Tech. Denny welcomed two children into the world, Jacob and Allyson. On February 2, 2012, Denny married Marsha Boon. They made their home in Sergeant Bluff where they raised and loved their five combined children.

Denny worked at MidAmerican Energy Company for nearly 33 years. He was always ready to lend a helping hand to both his family and work family. He enjoyed being outside, hunting, golfing, working on hot rods, going on motorcycle rides, barbecuing, and traveling. Additionally, he enjoyed cheering on the Iowa State Cyclones and was a member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church. More than anything Denny loved being with his family. He was so proud of all his kids and grandkids. Those who had the privilege of knowing him will never forget his infectious laughter, jokes, and gentle nature.

He is survived by his wife, Marsha Olsen, son, Jacob Olsen and fiancée Lauren, daughter, Ally Olsen and fiancée Jake, three stepchildren, Chris (Laura) Boon, Matt (Jenna) Boon, Stephanie (Joey) Pulverenti, seven grandchildren; Ava, Evan, Harper, Miles, Brooklyn, Charlotte, and Maren, three brothers, Randy (Linda) Olsen, Terry (Nellie) Olsen, Roy (Melanie) Olsen, sister-in-law, Jayne Olsen, and mother-in-law, Aimee Schlumbohm.

Denny is preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Don Olsen.

A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday September 15th at 6:30 p.m. at Pub 52 in Sergeant Bluff.

Denny was a big supporter of skin care prevention, due to this the family has requested that memorials be directed to Impact Melanoma. Additionally, Denny felt a passion for supporting those will special needs so memorials may also be sent to Camp High Hopes in Sioux City.
