John D. Sanford 1895 - 1913

John D. Sanford, the oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. C.D. Sanford, died suddenly of paralysis at his home near Sanborn, Iowa, Monday, February 10, 1913, aged 18 years, 1 month and 10 days. He had been ill but a few days and his condition was not considered serious, but he suffered three strokes of paralysis the day of his death.

Johnnie was born near Correctionville, Iowa, January 2, 1895, where he lived until fifteen years of age when he moved near Sanborn, Iowa. He was a young man of fine character; being always cheerful, industrious and lovable and his untimely death came as a great shock to his family and many friends, among whom he was a general favorite.

He leaves to mourn his loss, his mother, father, one brother, Freddie, three sisters, Gertrude, Pearl and Cornelia.

Funeral services were held at the home February 12, 1913 at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev. P.E. Mills of the Presbyterian Church assisted by a quartet. Interment was made in the Rareland Cemetery amid garlands of flowers.

To the sorrowing ones we extend our sympathy. The relatives from out of town who attended the funeral were: Mrs. Sanford's mother and father of Sheldon, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Brown, Clarence Brown and wife, Clyde Brown and wife of Sheldon, Willie Brown of Anthon. Mr. Sanford's relatives that attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. C.S. Sanford of Scotland, South Dakota, C.F. Harmon of Parker, South Dakota, J.W. Sanford and T.A. Metcalf of Chamberlain, South Dakota.
