Cornelius D. "Con" Sanford 1874 - 1965

Funeral services for Cornelius D. "Con" Sanford were held at the United Methodist Church in Correctionville on Saturday at 2 p.m. with Rev. M.C. Melcher officiating. Burial was in Good Hope Cemetery under direction of Wilson-Hull Funeral Home.

Con Sanford, son of E.D. and Sarah Sanford, was born July 12, 1874, in Jamestown, Wisconsin, and passed away April 7, 1965, at the age of 90.

When he was two his parents moved to Correctionville. He was united in marriage to Ada Kuntz at Olin, Iowa, on February 22, 1893. To this union were born six children.

In 1910 he moved with his family to Sanborn where he farmed. Shortly before coming to Correctionville, his left arm was amputated because of a gun accident. In 1925 he moved to Correctionville where he managed a cream station for the Fairmont Cream Co.

He was active in the church for most of his life. For a time he was a member of the Christian Church. In his later life he became a member of the Methodist Church where he was a member of the adult bible class in Sunday school. For a time, he was a member of the Woodmen Lodge. He also was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge.

He was preceded in death by his wife on January 11, 1953, also by three sons and two daughters.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Pearl Sage of Sioux City, a sister, Mrs. Susan Metcalf of Chamberlain, South Dakota, four grandchildren and three great grandchildren
