Charles Stevens Rowse 1828 - 1907

Charles S. Rowse was born April 10, 1828 at Sandusky, Ohio, and died at Correctionville, Ia., January 24, 1907.

Had he lived until spring, he would have reached bis seventy-ninth birthday. Mr. Rowse came to Iowa in 1870 living here continuously until his death making thirty-seven years residence here. During the early years, he experienced much of the hardships of the early settler and pioneer. He was an old veteran of the civil war, highly respected and much beloved by his old army comrades.

He leaves six children, five boys and one girl to mourn his loss. Mr. Rowse was an excellent man in every way, kind, courteous and Christian, and will be greatly missed by his many friends.

The funeral services were held at the M. E. church Saturday afternoon and were conducted by Rev. W. J. Todd, the Grand Army boys taking charge of the services at the grave.
