Funeral services for Mrs. Emma Riordan, age 86 years, were held at the Wilson-Hull Funeral home Saturday afternoon, May 10, 1952, at 2 o'clock. Mrs. Riordan passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Goldie Holcomb, Thursday, May 8, 1952. She had been devotedly cared for through some years of invalidism by Mrs. Holcomb with whom she made her home most of the time.

The services were conducted by Rev. Arthur Dyson, pastor of the Methodist Church. Pallbearers, all grandsons of the deceased, were Philip Holcomb, Don Riordan, Dale Riordan, Charles Corbin, George Hall and Clayton Hill. Burial was in Good Hope Cemetery.

Amelia Caroline Ahrens, daughter of Henry and Amelia Ahrens, was born November 16, 1865, in DeKalb Co., near Hinckley, Illinois. When age thirteen she came with her parents to Iowa. Shortly thereafter she was confirmed in the Lutheran faith.

In 1885 she was united in marriage to Alexander N. Mallert. To this union three children were born, Isabella, Ethel and Alexander, all of whom preceded her in death. Mr. Mallert died in 1894 and she was later married to Lemuel J. Riordan. To this union were born three children, Goldie, Orfa and Bertha. They resided on a farm near Correctionville where Mr. Riordan died in 1923. She continued to live there until 1946, after which she made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Goldie Holcomb, in Correctionville.

She is survived by her daughters, Mrs. Goldie Holcomb of Correctionville, Mrs. Orfa Bleasdell of Moville and Mrs. Bertha Hash of Richmond, California; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Hattie Dreezen of Westfield, one stepson, William D. Riordan of Pierson, one sister, Mrs. Carrie Mauer of Kimball, South Dakota, nineteen grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a host of friends and neighbors.
