10 April 1984LAWTON, Iowa -- Mary Helen Peterson, 97, of Lawton died Sunday in a Sioux City hospital after a brief illness.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Community Presbyterian Church in Lawton. Dr. Robert E. Peters will officiate. Burial will be in Banner Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. in the McCulloch-Wavrin Funeral Home in Moville.
Mrs. Peterson, the former Mary Helen Goldsmith, was born Aug. 31, 1886, in Lawton and was a lifelong resident. She attended rural school near Lawton. She married Gustaf Herman Peterson Nov. 14, 1906, at Lawton. He died in 1934.
She was a member of Community Presbyterian Church and United Presbyterian Women.
Survivors include three sons, Louis A. of Lawton, Clifford T. of Sioux City and Albert G. of Miami, Fla.; three daughters, Mrs. Harold (Mildred) Holmes of Bentonville, Ark., Emma M. Peterson and Mrs. Earl (Helen) Vermilyea, both of Lawton; 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
