Harley David Amick, 90, of Sioux City, formerly of Bronson, Iowa, died Friday, May 16, 2003, at Sunrise Retirement Community.

Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Elliott Creek Presbyterian Church in Bronson, with Dr. Wayne Peach officiating. Burial will be in Floyd Township Cemetery in Bronson. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel.

Mr. Amick was born July 18, 1912, in Bronson, Iowa, the son of William and Alice (Porter) Amick. He was raised in Bronson, where he attended school and graduated from Bronson High School. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was awarded the Purple Heart Medal.

Upon returning from World War II, he married Florence V. Buckland on Aug. 25, 1946, in Sioux City. Mrs. Amick passed away Dec. 17, 1974. He farmed in the Bronson area and worked at Armour and Company.

He enjoyed reading, basketball, baseball and gardening. He was a member of Elliott Creek Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include five sons, Andy Amick of Sioux City, Dave Amick and his wife, Lynnelle of Bronson, Randy Amick and his wife, Jamie of Bronson, Terry Amick and his wife, Tammy of Bronson, and William "Bill" and Jim Sorvaag of Sioux City; two daughters and their husbands, Lois and Dean Magnussen of Sioux Rapids, Iowa, and Jeanie and Dan Main of Sioux City; 24 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Louis, Donald and Edward Amick, all of Sioux City; and two sisters, Helen Sheets of Sioux City, and Margaret Fish of Springfield, Mo.

In addition to his wife, Florence, he was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Allen and Richard "Rick" Amick; three brothers, Glenn, Harrison and Roy Amick; and a sister, Mabel Uhl.

Pallbearers will be Jamie Amick, Zachary Amick, Scott Main, Pat Dean, Chris Amick and Cash Kleinberg.

Memorials may be directed to the building of the gazebo in the Bronson City Park in memory of Florence and Harley Amick.
