Bronson Man's Bodv Recovered at Le Mars Pool

LE MARS, Iowa Special: The body of Allen L. Amick, 21, Bronson, was recovered at about 3 p.m. Monday in the Le Mars municipal swimming pool, converted gravel pit.

Amick was swimming Sunday evening with acompanion when the drowning occurred. Authorities said he jumped off the diving board, surfaced and grabbed the arm of one of his companions, complaining of dizzyness. The youth went under the water and did not resurface.

The body was found about 10 feet from the diving board in 15 feet of water, authorities said.

The scuba diving club from Sioux Falls, along with Sioux City Civil Defense scuba divers and Le Mars firemen, aided in the search.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Elliott Creek Presbyterian Church, Bronson, with the Rev. Joel B. Wright, assistant pastor at Morningside Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will be at the Banner Township Cemetery, Lawton, under the direction of the W. Harry Christy Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Paul Corrie, Mike Main, Douglas Williams, Wayne Pettit, Robert Klingensmith and Howard Loveall.

Allen was born Nov. 24, 1949 in Bronson. He was graduated from Lawton-Bronson High School in 1968. He was a member of Elliott Creek Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include his parents, Mrs. Florence Amick of Bronson and Harley Amick of South Sioux City; six brothers, Dave, Randy, Rick, William, Terry and Andrew, all of Bronson; two sisters, Mrs. Dan (Marilyn) Main and Miss Lois Amick, both of Bronson, and his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Louesa Buckland of Elk Point.
