John M. Watson 1845 - 1903

F. F. Watson and wife and Mrs. McShea, of Jeffers, Minn. arrived Saturday morning in response to the telegram announcing the death of their father, J. M. Watson.

John M. Watson passed away Friday morning after an illness of about three weeks of typhoid pneumonia, aged 58 years and 28 days, He was born in Toronto, Canada, September 18, 1845, moving to Illinois while yet a boy and from there to Woodbury County, being one of the earliest settlers in this county. He was a veteran of the rebell on, having a most honorable soldier record. He was married to Jennie Dykimer and to them five children were born, three sons and two daughters, as follows: Mrs. Mike McShea, of Jeffers, Minn., Fess Watson, of Jeffers, Minn., H. A. Watson, of Oregon, Mrs. Butler, of Utica, Kans, and Fred Watson of Pierson. The funeral was held in the M. E. church Tuesday, Rev. McCracken conducting the same. Interment was in the Pierson cemetery. All of the children were present at the funeral except Mrs. Butler and H. A. Watson although the latter arrived with his wife, too late to be in attendance.
