Evelyn Stolze, 90, of Sioux Falls, S.D., formerly of Sioux City and Rock Valley, Iowa, died Sunday, Dec. 31, 2000, at Covington Heights in Sioux Falls.

Graveside services will be 1 1 a.m. Thursday in Hills of Rest Memorial Park in Sioux Falls. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Miller Funeral Home in Sioux Falls.

Mrs. Stolze was born Feb. 22, 1910, in Rock Valley, the daughter of Homer and Alvina (Hintz) Martin. She moved with her family to Sioux City, where she graduated from East High School. She was then employed as a recording clerk and operator with Northwestern Bell Telephone Co.

She married Harry K. Stolze on Oct 6, 1934, in Sioux City. The couple moved to Gayville, S.D., where she was a home-maker. In 1942, they moved to Sioux Falls. She returned to Northwestern Bell Telephone Co., retiring as a plant payroll supervisor in 1965, after 25 years.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church, American Association of Retired Persons, Telephone Pioneers, Elmwood Ladies Golf Club and Ladies Bowling League. She enjoyed traveling, sewing and needlepoint

Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Gwen Bright of Tujungo, Calif.; a foster son, Roger Stolze of Manhattan Beach, Calif.; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
