LE MARS, Iowa - Died Sioux City

Gilbert F. Parry, 87, of Le Mars died suddenly Sunday, Dec. 31, 2000, at a Sioux City nursing home.

Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St James Catholic Church in Le Mars, with the Rev. Richard Ries officiating. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City.

Mr. Parry was born June 4, 1913, in rural Plymouth County, Iowa, the son of Evan and Anna (Smith) Parry. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He married Lucille Henderson on May 25, 1937, in Kingsley, Iowa. She died Aug. 13, 1983, in Sioux City. He married Elizabeth Britt on Sept 20, 1986, in Neptune, Iowa.

He was employed as a parts salesman with Motor Parts Central for many years, retiring in February 1986.

He was a member of Morningside Masonic Lodge 615 A.F. & A.M. and American Legion Wasmer Post 241 of Le Mars.

Survivors include his wife; three stepsons and their wives, Thomas and Diane Britt, Daniel and Debra Britt and Arlan and Sandra Britt, all of Le Mars; a stepdaughter and her husband, Kathleen and Al Rounds of Ingelwood, Colo.; 12 step-grandchildren; and five great-step-grandchildren.

He also was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
