Wilton F. Nelson, 64, of Sioux City died Saturday, April 21, 2001, at his residence.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Morningside Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Donohue Sarff officiating. Burial will be in Dakota City Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Nelson-Berger Morningside Chapel.

Mr. Nelson was born Nov. 11, 1936, in Oakland, Neb., the son of Frederick and Florence (Talleruphus Stenberg) Nelson. He graduated from Dakota City High School in 1955.

He married Constance J. Newhouse on Sept 7, 1958. The couple farmed near Pender, Neb., for many years. After retiring from farming, they made their home in Sioux City.

He was a member of Morningside Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters and their husbands, Suzanne and Patrick O-Donnell of Omaha, and Patricia and David Van Maanen of Sioux City; a son and his wife, Frederick and Tammy of Sioux City; 11 grandchildren; a sister and her husband, Lillian and Earl Ziems of Sioux City; and a brother, Bernell Mertens of Sioux City.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Tanya Marie.

Pallbearers will be Frederick and Wesley Nelson, David Van Maanen, Patrick O'Donnell, Earl Ziems, Bernell Mertens, Mike Becker and Steve Flammang.
