Bruce D. Moores, 78, of Sioux City, formerly of Hasbrouck Heights, N.J., and Lansing, Mich., died Saturday, April 21, 2001, at his residence following a brief illness.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Michael's Catholic Church in South Sioux City, with the Rev. David Liewer officiating. Graveside services will be Friday in George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus, N.J. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City.

Mr. Moores was born May 25, 1922, in Shaftsburg, Mich., the son of Colen and Lillian Moores. He graduated from Holt High School in Holt, Mich. He served in the U.S. Air Force for two years.

He married Helen Pelensky on Aug. 23, 1952, in Younkers, N.Y. The couple made their home in Hasbrouck Heights. He was owner and operator of an overland car carrier, for E & L Transport. His wife died in 1994. He then moved to Sioux City.

He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church and Grace United Methodist Men.

Survivors include a brother and his wife, James and Dorothy Moores of Sioux City; four nieces, Deborah Bohaboj, Cheryl Kay, Betty Taylor and Amie MacLaine; a nephew, Richard Moores; and several grandnieces and grandnephews.

Pallbearers will be Richard Moores, Terry Taylor, Jim Bohaboj, David Kay, Jeremy Bohaboj and David Taylor.
