Joseph Clement Paul Ulring, 78, of Decorah, Iowa, formerly of Sioux City, died Wednesday, April 18, 2001, at Winneshiek County Memorial Hospital in Decorah of a heart ailment.

Services will be 3 p.m. Saturday at First Lutheran Church in Decorah, with the Rev. Steven M. Jacobsen officiating. Burial will be in Phelps Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 6 p.m., at Fjelstul Funeral Home in Decorah. Visitation will resume 2 p.m. until service time Saturday at the church.

Survivors include his wife, Aleta; three daughters, Janet Christianson of Arden Hills, Minn., Bishop April Larson of LaCrosse, Wis., and Beth Ulring of Stoughton, Wis.; two sons, James of Decorah and Scott of Golden Valley, Minn.; two brothers, Morris of Minneapolis and Donald of Puolsbo, Wash.; a sister, Ruth Wold of Maple Grove, Minn.; 13 grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter
