MOTHER OF MRS, LEONARD DIES AFTER LONG ILLNESS

Mrs. G. W. Ruch of Pierson, mother of Mrs. E. E. Leonard of this place, died at her home Wednesday night of last week, after an extended illness. She and her husband came to Woodbury County in 1876, living near or in Pierson since then. The funeral was held last Saturday.

Annis Jeanette Lent was born March 5th, 1833 in Bradford County, Penn., and died April 21st, 1909. On Jan. 1st, 1858 she was married to Geo. W. Ruch. They resided in Naperville, Ill., for some time, and in 1876 they moved to Woodbury County, Iowa, where they settled on a farm one and a half miles east of Pierson, there they lived until 1896, when they moved to town. Six children were born to them, five daughters and one son, five of whom are living and were present at the funeral, one daughter dying in infancy. They celebrated their golden wedding Jan. 1st, 1908, at which time they had a family reunion.

She was a member of the Baptist church and had a lovely Christian character.

To mourn her departure she leaves her husband, Geo. W. Ruch, and five children, Mrs. E. E. Leonard of Correctionville, Iowa; Mrs. H. P. Baker of Jeffera, Minn.; Miss Flora Ruch, Mrs. James Landon and Ed Ruch, all of Pierson; also two brothers and one sister.

The funeral was held in the Christian church Saturday afternoon, conducted by Rev. J. F. Ainsworth, pastor of the Christian church at Zearing, la. A large number were in attendance. The remains were interred in the Pierson cemetery. The bereaved family have the sympathy of the whole community.
