26 October 1916Former Resident Dies in S.D.
John Grapes Sr. of Carthage, S. D. died suddenly of heart failure last Sunday. The remains were brought to Pierson Wednesday, and following the funeral services were taken to the Rock Branch cemetery for burial. Mr. Grapes was for many years a resident in the vicinity of Correctionville and was well known by the older settlers here. He left with his family for South Dakota several years ago and had since resided near Carthage. He is survived by his wife and five children.
