JOHN GRAPES

CARTHAGE, S. D.-- Special: Funeral services will be held Monday for John Grapes, 83, who died Friday in a Madison hospital after a stroke.

Mr. Grapes was born in Dubuque, la., and came with his family to a farm five miles southeast of here in 1908. He had lived on the farm since that time.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Glen Johnson of Pleasant Lake, Ind., a son, Russell of Carthage; three sisters, Mrs. Maude Southall, Carthage, Mrs. Hattie Flathers of Iroquois and Mrs. F. B. Woods, Traer, la., a brother, Oliver A. Grapes, Carthage; and three grandchildren.

The rites will be at the Willoughby funeral home at Howard, after which the body will be taken to Rock Branch, la., for burial.
