Lillian Judea Flathers 1873 - 1957

Mrs. Lillian Flathers, 84, Smithland area native and life- long Woodbury County resident died Friday morning at a Sioux City hospital after a four-and-a- half year illness.

She was born April 15, 1873, on a farm near Smithland, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Yockey. She attended rural Woodbury County schools and Morningside college and taught in rural Woodbury County schools for years.

On March 12, 1911, she was married to George L. Flathers of Rock Branch at Onawa. The couple farmed near Clear Lake, S. D. until they returned to Woodbury County in 1915 and resided on farms in the Rock Branch area until about 1940. Mr. Flathers died in that year,

Mrs. Flathers, who lived in Moville for about 12 years, was a member of the Moville Federated church and the Federated guild.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Earl Evans of Chardon, O., a son, Max of Correctionville, two sisters, Mrs. Fred Cory and Mrs. Ralph Cory of Smithland, a brother, John Yockey of Hornick, and two grandchildren.
