ANTHON, Iowa - Mrs. Fred Fixsel, 95, of rural Anthon, died Jan. 23 in a hospital at Sioux City. Services will be at 2 p.m. Jan. 27 in the Rock Branch United Methodist Church, rural Correctionville, The Rev. Ted Sieck will officiate. Burial will be in the Fairfield Cemetery at Rock Branch, with Walter Funeral Home of Anthon in charge.

Mrs. Fixsel, the former Kat Scheffler, was born Nov. 30, 1879 at Streator, Ill. She moved to Pottawattamie County when a young girl, and to the Rock Branch area of Woodbury County in 1901.

She was married Jan. 1, 1900 at Silver Creek. The couple farmed near Rock Branch. Mr. Fixsel died in 1955. She made her home with her children beginning in 1971. In September of 1974 she entered a nursing home in Correctionville.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Albert (Edna) Brune of Correctionville and Mrs. Claire (Ada) Denlinger of Pierson; two sons, Ray of Anthon and Louis of Pierson; 7 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren, and one brother, Henry of Corley.
