CORRECTIONVILLE. Iowa - Martha Opal Durham, 92, of Ames, Iowa, formerly of Correctionville, died Sunday, Oct. 5, 1997 at Mary Greeley Memorial Hospital in Ames.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Barker Funeral Home in Correctionville with the Rev. David Curtis officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. today with the family present at 6 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., all at the funeral home.

Mrs. Durham was born Sept. 13, 1905, in Correctionville, the daughter of William Short and Elmira Baker. She attended school in Correctionville and Moville, Iowa, up to the 11th grade.

She married Roy Durham on June 15, 1925, in Cherokee, Iowa. The couple made their home on a farm west of Correctionville, where she was a homemaker. He died in 1985.

She moved to Ames in 1989 and resided at Riverside Manor.

She was a member of Assembly of God Church.

Survivors include four sons, Paul, Russell, Dean and Gaylen Durham; four daughters, Luella Skerjance, Faye Jones, Charlotte Menter and Ruth Andreson; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Lee, and a brother, Ansel Short.
