Funeral services for Mrs. Carl Carlsen, 83, of Correctionville, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Salem Lutheran Church at the Rock Branch community near Correctionville. The Rev. Arnold Sommer will officiate, and burial will be in Fairfield Cemetery at Rock Branch under the direction of the Barker Funeral Home of Correctionville.

Mrs. Carlsen died Wednesday night at a Cherokee, Iowa nursing home.

Mrs. Carlsen, the former Emma Ruess, was born April 9, 1890, near Correctionville and was married Dec. 9, 1914, in the Midway community near Correctionville. They farmed in the Anthon and Correctionville areas until retiring and moving into Correctionville in 1946. Mr. Carlsen died in 1966. Mrs. Carlsen went to a nursing home a few years ago.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Clayton (Sophie) Reinert of Cherokee, Iowa, and Mrs. James (Edna) Patton of Prineville, Ore.; a sister, Mrs. Fred (Minnie) Clausen of Kingsley, Iowa; 11 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.
