Pierson Resident, 91, Expires at Hospital, Services Saturday

Louis Brune, 91, a resident of the Pierson vicinity for more than 70 years, died Wednesday at a Sioux City hospital.

Mr. Brune was born in Germany June 17, 1859.

He is survived by two sons, Albert and Fred, and three daughters, Mrs. Ida Bohle, Mrs. Rose Waugh and Mrs. Sadie Murphy, all of Pierson. His wife died in 1914.

Funeral services will, be at 2 p. m. Saturday at the Pierson Church of Christ. Burial will be in Rock Bridge cemetery under direction of the Osborn funeral home of Pierson.

Louis Brune, son of Mr. and Mrs. Karl Brune of Herbsen, Waldeck, Germany, was born June 17, 1859, and came to the United States in March 1882 to Grand Mound, Iowa. He moved from there to Woodbury County in 1884 where he lived on a farm near Rock Branch until he retired. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was the last charter member of the Salem Lutheran church of Rock Branch which was organized in 1886.

On March 13, 1889, he was united in marriage with Louise Rock of Dixon, Iowa, who preceded him in death in November 1914. Six children were born to this union, five of whom are living. They are Mrs. Ida Bohle of Pierson, Albert Brune of Correctionville, Mrs. Rose Waugh of Anthon, Fred Brune of Pierson and Mrs. Sadie Murphy of Kingsley. On son, Louis, died in infancy.

Other survivors include a brother, Albert Brune of Oroville, Washington, five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, all of this vicinity, six nieces and six nephews.

In later years he made his home in Pierson with his children. He was in good health and active until April 23 when he suddenly became ill. He entered the hospital April 26 and died May 2 at the age of 91 years, 10 months and 15 days.

Funeral services were held Saturday, May 5, from the Pierson Church of Christ with Rev. G.D. Serrill officiating. Burial was in the Fairfield Cemetery at Rock Branch.
