Louis W. Bennett, 81, Merrill, Iowa, died Sunday at a Sioux City hospital after a long Illness.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the W. Harry Christy Funeral Home in Morningside. The Rev. Charles O. Wallace of Grace United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Rock Branch Cemetery at Anthon, Iowa. There will be a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Bennett was born Sept. 8, 1900, at Correctionville, Iowa.

He married Violet Prodehl July 31, 1935, at Elk Point, S.D. They lived in the Moville and Lawton, Iowa, vicinity until 1947 when they moved to rural Hinton, Iowa. He was a lifelong area farmer.

Survivors include the widow; four sons, William and Armin, both of Hinton and Lowayne and Marlin, both of Sioux City; five daughters, Mrs. Orville (Viola) Blackmore of Merrill, Mrs. Wallace (Alberta) Pratt of Phoenix, Ariz., Mrs. Jack (Evelyn) Calkins of Akron, Iowa, Mrs. James (Marlene) Ernst of Le Mars, Iowa, and Miss Carolyn at home; three sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Olson of South Sioux City; Mrs. Mary Justl of Litchfield, Minn, and Mrs. Kate Elliott of Kerkhoven, Minn.; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
