10 September 1995SMITHLAND, Iowa-- Arley A. Westendorf of Smithland died Friday, Sept. 8, 1995, at the Immanuel Hospital in Omaha, Neb.
Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Oto, Iowa, with the Rev Edmund Tiedeman officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 9 p.m. Monday, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, at the Walter-Armstrong Funeral Home in Mapleton, Iowa.
Mrs. Westendorf was a native of Halbur, Iowa. She worked as a traveling cashier and bookkeeper at Iowa Public Service until marrying Walter J. Westendorf in Smithland, Iowa. The couple founded Westendorf Manufacturing Co. Inc. in Smithland. It is now located in Onawa, Iowa.
Survivors include her husband, Walter; two daughters, Joy K. (Mrs. Leo A.) McCarthy of Dubuque, Iowa, and Elaine M. (Mrs. Dennis) Martin of Omaha, Neb.; a son, Neal W. (Shirley) of Onawa, Iowa; seven grandchildren; one great-grandson; a brother, Merle Heider of Humboldt, Iowa; and a sister, Evelyn Schroeder of Carroll, Iowa.
