Mayor of Oto Heart Victim

Leo E. Schroeder, 38, mayor of Oto, died Sunday in a Sioux City hospital where he was taken after suffering a heart attack at his home Sunday morning.

Mr. Schroeder, an electrician, was serving his second two-year term as Oto mayor.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church at Oto. The Rev. Thomas Munn will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

The Rosary will be recited at 8 o'clock tonight and again Tuesday night at the Willman Funeral Home in Rodney.

Pallbearers will be Harold Lillie, Nick Gotto Jr., Lyle Rayevich, Gary Adkins, William Adkins and Melvin "Bob" Green.

Mr. Schroeder was a scout master of Troop 271 of Oto, a board member of Mid-Sioux Opportunities, Inc. of Remsen, Iowa, and a member of the board of Red Cross in Sioux City.

He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Men's Club, and Knights of Columbus.

Mr. Schroeder was born Sept. 25, 1932, at Arcadia, Iowa. He married Bernice Riesberg Sept. 25, 1952, at Templeton, Iowa.

Survivors include the widow; four daughters, Pearl, Joyce, Carol and Suzan, all at home; four sons, Lee, Loran, Lyle and Patrick, all at home; his mother, Mrs. Evelyn Schroeder of Carroll, Iowa; four sisters, Mrs. Wayne (Betty) Heithoff of Des Moines, Mrs. Ray (Bonnie) Fortune of Ankeny, Iowa, Mrs. Phyllis Woodward of Carroll and Mrs. George D. (Fay) Hess of Underwood, Minn.; two brothers, William E. of Lake View, Iowa, and Larry J. of Pelican Rapids, Minn.; paternal grandmother, Mrs. Ed Schroeder of Arcadia, Iowa; and maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. O. E. Heider of Carroll.
