Edgar William Howe, 73, 913 Lewis Blvd., a longtime Sioux City resident, died Tuesday morning at a Sioux City hospital after a short illness.

Mr. Howe was born March 14,1898 at Anthon. He grew up there and moved to Sioux City in his early 20s. He married the former Helen L. Dowling Feb 3,1939 at Vermillion, S.D.

Mr. Howe worked for the Haley Fruit Co. for 14 years, and later was employed by Tolerton & Warfield Co. for 14 years. The last few years he had been employed part time by the Downtown Skelly Service Station.

Survivors include the widow; three sons, Lloyd W. of Sioux City, S.Sgt. Gaylord D. with the U.S. Air Force at McCord Air Force Base, Tacoma, Wash and Douglas C. of Cedar Falls, Iowa; and four grandchildren.

The body was taken to the W Harry Christy Funeral Home in Morningside.
