HORNICK, Iowa – Junior Johnny Gallagher, 59, of rural Hornick died Wednesday, Sept. 25, 1991, at a Sioux City hospital of cancer.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Holly Springs Bible Fellowship Church with Pastor Walden Askren and Pastor Jim Penner officiating. Burial will be in Willow Township Cemetery at Holly Springs. Visitation will be 6:30-8:30 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the Wood Funeral Home in Sloan.

Mr. Gallagher was born March 30, 1932, near Hornick and graduated from Holly Springs High School in 1949. He married Marian Weber Sept. 4, 1953, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. He was a lifelong area farmer.

Mr. Gallagher was a member of Holly Springs Bible Fellowship Church. He served on the Hornick Co-Op Elevator Board for 26 years and was president of the board at the time of his death. He was the Woodbury County ASCS Committee chairman and past chairman of the Holly Springs Church of Christ. He was a member of the Monona County Ditch Board, Board of Directors of Hornick State Savings Bank, and was the Willow Township Trustee Chairman. He served as the National Weather Service observer for 30 years and was president of the Hornick Bowling League for several years.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Donald of Boulder, Colo., and Dennis and his wife, Lori of Hornick; a daughter, Darlene Mowry and her husband, Greg of Burnsville, Minn.; his mother, Bessie Gallagher of Whiting; a brother, Richard and his wife, Linda of Manhattan, Kan.; and five grandchildren, Matthew, Lori, and Nathan Mowry and Johnathan and Michael Gallagher.

He was preceded in death by his father, Johnny Gallagher
