Charlie M. Ferguson, 84, retired Hornick businessman, died Wednesday at a McAllen, Tex., hospital after a long illness. Since retirement, Mr. Ferguson had spent his winters at McAllen.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church at Hornick. The Rev. Henry Held will officiate. Burial will be in Holly Springs Cemetery under direction of the Wood Funeral Home of Sloan.

Mr. Ferguson was born July 27, 1885, at Holly Springs, and he was a lifelong resident of the Holly Springs-Hornick area.

In 1919, Mr. Ferguson built and operated one of the first automobile garages and agencies in the Hornick area. He later operated a grocery store at Hornick until his retirement in 1942.

Mr. Ferguson married Mabel Lindle March 12, 1964, at McAllen. He was a member of a Methodist church in Davenport, Iowa.

Survivors include the widow; a daughter, Mrs. Bill (Marjorie) Buser of Sloan; a son, Carl E. of Sarasota, Fla.; two sisters, Mrs. Mae Weber and Mrs. Wiley (Ruth) Metcalf, both of Hornick; two stepsons, Francis Lindle of West Liberty, Iowa, and Donald Lindle of Muscatine, Iowa; six grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
